Nick Kyrgios drew the ire of his ATP contemporaries after his off-color comment about Stan Wawrinka's girlfriend during a match. The ATP's punishment, however, has drawn the ire of Wawrinka's girlfriend.

The enigmatic Australian player was fined $10,000 in mid-August for telling Wawrinka that fellow Aussie Thanasi Kokkinakis had sex with Donna Vekic, who has been romantically linked to Wawrinka, during the second round of the Montreal Masters.

Earlier this week, the ATP "added" to Kyrgios' punishment, threatening another $25,000 fine and a 28-day suspension if he is fined for verbal or physical abuse, or if he incurs more than $5,000 in fines for any other reason during the next six months, the New York Post reported.

The punishment will be wiped out after six months if Kyrgios exhibits good behavior.

Vekic told the Post she wasn't very happy with ATP's discipline.

"He didn't get suspended,'' Vekic told The Post Tuesday after winning her first-round US Open qualifying match. "It's ridiculous. No more comment on this.''

Her only comment about Kyrgios prior to Wednesday's exchange with the Post was an interview with the Canadian newspaper, The Providence.

"It's not easy, but I'm trying to focus on tennis and my next match,'' she told the newspaper last week.

Vekic struggled to advance past her first-round US Open qualifying match against Riko Sawayanagi, winning, 3-6, 7-5, 6-4. The Post reported that Vekic argued constantly with the chair umpire over line calls and that she was crying during one of the match's changeovers.

She told the Post that the humidity was the reason for her tears.

"I wasn't feeling so well and wasn't feeling the ball so great,'' Vekic said.
