Ronda Rousey and Floyd Mayweather are known for throwing jabs in their professions, but "Rowdy" recently laid the verbal smackdown on the reigning WBC and WBA welterweight champion.

Mayweather first ripped Rousey, the reigning UFC women's bantamweight champion, earlier this month when comparing his wealth to hers and the rest of the athletes in their respective sports.

"I've yet to see any MMA fighter, or other boxer, make over $300 million in 36 minutes," Mayweather said. "When she can do that, then call me."

Rousey responded on Wednesday, hurling an insult at Mayweather over the cash he makes and also zinging him based on rumors that his literacy isn't up to normal standards.

"I actually did the math and given the numbers of my last fight, I'm actually the highest-paid UFC fighter and I'm a woman," Rousey told TMZ. "I think I actually make two or three times more than he does per second. So, when he learns to read and write, he can text me."

There has been a lot of speculation over what would happen if Mayweather, who 48-0 in boxing, were to mix it up with Rousey (12-0 in UFC) in a battle of two prominent undefeated sports figures. Such an encounter is unlikely to ever happen, outside of a verbal realm. Rousey has said in the past that she believes she can defeat Mayweather in a "no rules" fight.

Rousey recently made headlines when she knocked out Beth Correia in 34 seconds at UFC 190 on Aug. 1, and she quipped that her fights are usually over in seconds while Mayweather takes a while to defeat his opponents.

"I'm just a little bit more efficient," Rousey said.

While it's unlikely the two will ever clash, the war of words is something to behold.
