Bill Simmons, free from the shackles of ESPN, has been letting people have it on Twitter. Simmons, who is now signed with HBO, is clearly not being told to tone down his opinions. His latest target was the Los Angeles Clippers organization.

Simmons, a Clippers season ticket holder, let off a slew of tweets that bashed the Clippers as one of the NBA’s three most dysfunctional franchises. Along the way he compared billionaire owner Steve Ballmer to deposed, reviled ex-owner Donald Sterling.

Simmons Airs Out Brief ESPN Apology To The Patriots

Alright, take a breath and digest all that, because Simmons had one more barb aimed at New York fans. Never forget he came up as a Boston sports guy with no love for the Big Apple.

It’s good that Simmons made the distinction between Ballmer and Sterling beyond the fact that they own/have owned the Clippers. While Ballmer’s viewed as something of a crazy man at the games, and was just forced to fork over $250,000 because of the DeAndre Jordan contract fiasco, Sterling made blatantly racist comments that were recorded on tape. He also has a lengthy history of housing discrimination against minorities, and an equally long history of using his money to submit them in litigation. Simmons has just been on fire lately, and he’s building big anticipation for his return to podcasting on Oct. 1.
