Gennady "GGG" Golovkin is boxing's current knockout king thanks to a 20-fight streak of stoppages, but boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya advises fans to pump the brakes on skipping ahead to a fight vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Golovkin is facing De La Hoya's fighter, David Lemieux, on October 17, and doesn't see his guy losing.

"Canelo is capable of taking down Gennady Golovkin. But the fact is Golovkin is facing David Lemieux, who is a puncher and a fast fighter. Who's strong, and can actually box," De La Hoya told Boxing Scene. "People are talking about Golovkin facing Canelo next, but I think after the fight people will be talking about David Lemieux and what he did to Gennady."

Golovkin (33-0, 30 KO) is the WBA and IBO middleweight champion. He is considered almost universally as the top middleweight in the world, despite Miguel Cotto, Alvarez's opponent in November, holding the lineal WBC title. Lemieux (34-2, 31 KO) is right up there with Golovkin in knockout percentage, and his two losses came way back in 2011.

Since back-to-back defeats, Lemieux has reeled off nine wins in a row, seven of them by way of knockout. In his last victory, a unanimous decision vs. Hassan N'Dam for the IBF middleweight title, he sent N'Dam to the mat six times. De La Hoya believes Golovkin-Lemieux will be the Fight of the Year, and that both men will see the canvas.

"I think there are going to be knockdowns in this fight. Both men are going to get back up, but it boils down to whoever has the stronger will to win," De La Hoya said. "It's not going the distance."
