Canada crushed Germany on Monday, inflicting an 11-1 defeat on the host country in the qualification pool final for the World Baseball Classic.

At the Arim Wolf Baseball Arena, the Canadian attack was led by first baseman Jimmy Ostrand with a home run and 4 runs scored. Chris Robinson added a two-run shot while Adam Loewen went two for 4 with a homer and three RBIs.

After the victory the elated Canadian Manager Ernie Whitt said: "We accomplished our goal. We came in knowing we needed to win three games. You can't say enough about this team. They are gamers who played with pride and passion. We are just happy that we are going on."

Andrew Albers played well going six innings for the victory and allowing 1 run on two hits and 3 strikeouts.

The Canadian roster was loaded with minor-league players since the major-league players are busy finishing off their regular season.

Robinson said: This is our team. This is where we come together and play with the guys. Most of the guys on this team will not be on the team next year, but we knew how important it was for this team. We're a hockey country but we're turning heads in baseball as well."

The Canadians took an early lead with a four-run first inning. Robinson blasted the first pitch from German starter Andre Hughes over the wall thus providing the necessary power early on.

The German Manager Greg Frady obviously upset with the defeat on home soil said: "The game didn't go how we wanted it to of course. As men our job is to win the tournament. We know that. The game didn't start very well and when you give up four runs in the first and three more in the second you lose a lot of your strategic options."

Spain also qualified for the 2013 WBC on Sunday upsetting favorites Israel 9-7.
