Position Battles To Watch

Lions: Momentum is carrying Ameer Abdullah this preseason in his quest to become the team's No.1 RB. The second-round pick is benefitting from an offseason surgery that required Joique Bell to miss OTA's and minicamp. Abdullah had 67 yards in seven carries against the Jets and will look for more in Washington on Thursday.

Eli Manning Deserves To Be NFL's Highest Paid Player

Redskins: With Niles Paul (ankle) and Logan Paulsen (right toe) on the injured reserve, coupled with Jordan Reed succumbing to a hamstring injury, the TE position is wide open in Washington. Je'Ron Hamm and Chase Dixon appear to be the two candidates to temporarily fill the role.

Performance To Examine

Dan Orlovsky and Kellen Moore are amid a battle for the backup position in Detroit. Moore received the call with the second-team in Week 1, awarding Orlovsky his opportunity in Week 2. The 32-year-old—albeit against weaker competition—outperformed his counterpart, finishing 5-of-11 for 96 yards and one TD.

Moore, by comparison, was 9-of-17 for 67 yards and zero TDs.
