Days after a report surfaced that James Harden's friends want him to distance himself from Khloe Kardashian, her ex-husband Lamar Odom echoed that sentiment, but for a different reason.

The divorce between Odom, the ex-NBA star, and Kardashian became final in mid-July, but he still refers to her as his wife, according to what was described as a "rambling" interview with intouchweekly.com.

Trying to explain his side of an incident in which reports claimed Odom ambushed his ex outside a fitness club, he told intouchweekly.com, "A misunderstanding between me and my wife became public. It's hurtful. That woman is my wife. Without the ring on my finger. [Even] with her picture being taken with another man, that woman is my wife."

Odom went on to suggest that any other relationships she may have will be fleeting because of the bond they share.

"She's [my] soul mate," Lamar told the magazine. "I can't control it. We'll never part. I would never consider myself serious with another woman. To sum it up, if a man is attempting to court Khloé, he's probably wasting his time."

That would be Harden, with whom Kardashian currently is dating.

She went to see Harden, the Rockets star in Houston a day after the alleged ambush in front of a SoulCycle facility, and the photos of the two showing public displays of affection quickly appeared on social media.

Hollywoodlife.com added that Odom's recent behavior could be explained by the death of two of his friends over the summer. He reportedly has been struggling emotionally, and that has Kardashian concerned for him, despite their run-in which left her shaken.

Odom may be in denial that Kardashian has moved on, telling intouchweekly.com that hearing about her dating other men "is weird. And the weirdest part about it is because I really know how she feels about me."
