The AL then remains one day ahead of the NL for the start of the division series, as both ALDS matchups begin on Thursday, Oct. 8. The NLDS begins play on Friday, Oct. 9, as both AL series will also play their Game 2s, marking the only time all four series will see action on the same day.

For the championship series', the ALCS will start on Oct. 16 and would finish on Oct. 24, if it lasts seven games, while the NLCS is slated to commence on Oct. 17 and could go as long as Oct. 25.

Barring a sweep, the World Series will play into November for the first time since 2010, due to the playoffs starting six days later than last year. The 111th annual Fall Classic will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at the home of an AL team due to the league's 6-3 victory over the NL in the All-Star Game in July.

Game 2 will take place the next day, and an off day is scheduled for Oct. 29 before the NL team hosts the series for three straight games, if necessary, starting on Oct. 30. The only other off day for the Fall Classic will be Nov. 2, which is in between Games 5 and 6, in order for the teams to travel back to the AL park.

If the World Series goes seven games, it will close out Wednesday, Nov. 4.

The regular season is set to conclude on Sunday Oct. 4, while Oct. 5 will be used in the event any one-game playoffs need to be contested to determine the playoff field
