Death, taxes and the Mets finishing as New York’s lovable loser. This season, however, is proving to be the exception to that rule.
Having won seven of their last 10 games heading into Saturday's game against the Pirates, the Mets opened a 4.5-game lead over the Nationals in the NL East. Simply put, the Amazin’s are enjoying their baseball, and you should too.
3 Potential Destinations For Jose Reyes
Below are four reasons the Mets are now baseball’s most entertaining team.
Bartolo Colon
Few things in life will give you more joy than Bartolo Colon at the plate.
The ageless wonder (42) is batting .150 this season—respectable for a pitcher of his stature—but it’s the manner in which he does so that allows him to be memorable. As awkward as he is graceful, Colon somehow manages to swing himself out of his helmet each and every time.
3 Reasons The Blue Jays Surpassed The Yankees
And yet, despite all that, he continues to be the most exciting at bat in baseball.
42-19
Friday’s loss to the Pirates aside, the Mets continue to be a dominant force at Citi Field.
Through 61 games, the team boasts a .688 winning percentage at home. Only the Cardinals can claim better form, winning 71.6 percent of the time at Busch Stadium (43-17). Consistency before a home crowd transformed Citi Field into the preeminent place to enjoy a ballgame in New York City.
All respect to Yankee Stadium, but the stadium’s exaggerated architecture still carries the feeling of your grandmother’s plastic covered couch. The house that Steinbrenner built is a museum, one where you should probably take your shoes off before you enter. Citi Field is ballpark, one that carries a festive atmosphere in key moments.
Pitching
Growing up in an era where pedestrian hitters injected themselves to superhuman levels can change your appreciation for America’s game. But if there’s a team that can serve as the posterboy for the post-steroid era, it’s the Metropolitans.
Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Jonathon Niese and the aforementioned Colon are all enjoying success on the mound in 2015. Only Zack Greinke (1.59) enters the weekend with a better ERA than deGrom (2.03).
Couple that with the fact that Harvey looks eerily similar to Nicholas Cage, and the recipe is there for an enjoyable display on the mound.
Is it me or is Matt Harvey looking more and more like a doughy Nicholas Cage?

They’re Not The Yankees
Being the antithesis of the Yankees is reason enough to be baseball’s most entertaining team.
