At long last, the wait for Marcus Mariota to get some in-game NFL action is over, even if he isn't expected to be used for that long in the first exhibition game. The 2014 Heisman Trophy winner will see some snaps under center in a game for the first time since the Titans selected him with the No. 2 overall draft pick in April.

Mariota will be playing against an Atlanta defense that is looking to show that it improved from last year's shortcomings. In 2014, the Falcons allowed 398.2 yards per game and also allowed 279.9 passing yards.

The former Ducks quarterback is looking forward to taking his first step into the NFL.

"It's an opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream and I'm looking forward to it," Mariota told Score.com. "... Ever since I can remember, it's what I wanted to do. I've been very blessed on this journey and I'm excited."

Mariota's counterpart, Matt Ryan, will also see some game action tonight and he'll have two of his key weapons to throw to as Julio Jones and Roddy White will get some starting reps.

Ryan, who has felt the brunt of 75 sacks over the course of the past two seasons, said he enters this year feeling better than ever under the new scheme of coach Dan Quinn.

"From that standpoint, I think we've done such a great job in training here and in our offseason program that I feel as good as I ever have," Ryan said per The Telegraph.

The Titans and Falcons kick-off their preseason schedules when they take the field in the Georgia Dome tonight in Atlanta.
