It's good to be Ted Wells. Even though his report on "Deflategate" is getting torn apart in court and by members of the media, his pockets aren't hurting. Wells just bought a posh New York City apartment from tennis stars Serena and Venus Williams for a cool $2 million, according to The New York Daily News.

Wells, who determined that it is "more probable than not" that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was "generally aware" of Pats attendants illegally deflating footballs for a competitive advantage, has been accused of not being impartial by Brady's camp.

Tom Brady Must Accept Ted Wells Report To Reach Settlement

It's easy to see where that accusation comes from; Wells has admitted that he charges by the hour, and has made "millions of dollars" over the course of two investigations for the NFL. Wells was charged with getting to the bottom of "Bullygate," where Dolphins players led by offensive lineman Richie Incognito were accused of consistently bullying teammate Jonathan Martin verbally and through text messages and phone calls. ESPN's Adam Schefter said the NFL has paid Wells' firm upward of $45 million.

Wells refuted any accusation of being favorable toward the NFL. "Let's put it like this: I totally reject any suggestion that I was not independent or that the report in some way was slanted to reach a particular result. So I reject all of that," Wells said, according to CBS Boston.

The Williams sisters made $750,000 on the apartment, which is "configured as a one-bedroom apartment but could easily be converted into a two- or even three-bedroom spread," according to The Daily News. The apartment features "oak floors, high beamed ceilings and wall-to-wall windows."
