The WWE's annual August spectacle SummerSlam is less than two weeks away and there is a lot of buzz surrounding the event.
WWE SmackDown Spoilers: Rollins, Owens Team Up; Updated SummerSlam Card
The WWE will present the 28th edition of SummerSlam on Aug. 23 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and it will be headlined by Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker and Seth Rollins vs. John Cena.
Before the sun sets on another memorable summer in the WWE, here are 10 things we'd like to see happen at SummerSlam:
5 Possible Outcomes To Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar At SummerSlam
1) No Cash-in For Sheamus
Much to the chagrin of most of the Internet Wrestling Community, the WWE booked Sheamus to win the Money in the Bank contract, good for a WWE World Heavyweight Championship shot anytime within the next year.
SummerSlam has provided the backdrop for many cash-in attempts over the years, most recently with Randy Orton using his contract to unseat the newly crowned Daniel Bryan in 2013, but this year it shouldn't happen with the Celtic Warrior. Sheamus isn't booked for the event yet, though a bout with Randy Orton seems likely. Hopefully that's where his night ends.
2) Ryback vs. The Miz vs. The Big Show Canceled
No offense to these three combatants, but this feud just doesn't excite us and the three-way match likely won't go down in the annals of great SummerSlam Intercontinental Championship matches like the classic Bret Hart vs. Mr. Perfect encounter in 1991 or Triple H vs. The Rock in a Ladder Match in 1998.
While the WWE was hopeful to restore the Intercontinental Championship back to prominence, this match doesn't quite do the trick.
3) No Authority
The WWE has enjoyed implementing The Authority into shows, which is fine, but it's when they get involved in matches that things tend to get a bit stale.
Triple H and Stephanie McMahon (and Kane for that matter) can appear on the show all they want, but they shouldn't influence the decisions in any of the matches.
4) Stephen Amell Kick Ass
The long-awaited showdown between Amell and Stardust on RAW was actually one of the better uses of celebrities in a long time as the "Arrow" star actually was convincing in his anger toward late WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes' son.
Pairing Amell, the Green Arrow, with Neville, who does the Red Arrow as a finishing maneuver, was a good choice and hopefully Amell can bring his great passion with him to New York City.
5) Prime Time Players Hang On
The WWE hasn't had a tag team hold on to the belts longer than 63 days since March 2014 and while Titus O'Neil and Darren Young will have surpassed that (not by much) by the time SummerSlam rolls around, the company can use a lengthy reign atop the tag division.
The Tag Team Champions have their work cut out for them by being booked into a Fatal 4 Way match, but in the end they should retain and add stability to the division by serving as long-term champs.
6) Divas Revolution
The WWE has done a great job with its Divas division, even if Stephanie McMahon drawing up the sides herself was a clunky way to form allegiances. Still, the Team Bella, Team B.A.D. and Team P.C.B. alliances have spruced up the intensity within the division and made for fun television.
Now that all nine of these ladies will mix it up under the bright lights at SummerSlam in an elimination match, the WWE can't afford to stifle the momentum the Divas have built. The company needs to give the women a good chunk of time at SummerSlam -- it is a four hour show after all -- and give them a chance to tell a great story.
7) Dean Ambrose Heel Turn
There has been some speculation that the bromance between The Lunatic Fringe and his former Shield stablemate Roman Reigns could be set up for a massive blow -- and we say bring it on.
Ambrose has drawn a lot of parallels to Brian Pillman's "loose cannon" character and a heel turn could bring out the maniac that lurks within him. Ambrose and Reigns are set to battle The Wyatt Family and it would be a perfect opportunity to pull the trigger on an Ambrose heel turn to let the lunacy run wild.
While there are rumors he could join up with The Wyatt Family, a loner heel character may be better suited for The Lunatic Fringe.
8) Revenge of the 'Taker
Brock Lesnar shocked the world when he pinned The Undertaker to the mat at WrestleMania XXX to end The Streak and The Deadman got a taste of vengeance by costing The Beast the WWE World Heavyweight Championship last month at Battleground.
Now, the two have a date with destiny at "The Biggest Party of the Summer" and it seems as though The Demon from Death Valley is built to get his revenge.
The Undertaker has given it all for this business and even was willing to build Lesnar's torrid run through the company in 2014 by forfeiting his unbeaten streak at the "Show of Shows." After all of that, The Undertaker deserves to get his win back by taming The Beast, possibly setting up a third clash at Survivor Series to restore that event back to prominence.
Though it's hard to imagine an aging Undertaker taking out a former UFC champion, the WWE needs to devise a way to conceivably put 'Taker over on Aug. 23.
9) Rollins Retains
There has been a lot of negativity over the way The Architect has been booked as champion (see: constant squabbles with Kane, losing to J&J Security), but the blame can't be placed solely on the reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
It's possible that with stocks and RAW ratings sinking, the WWE panics and goes to their golden boy John Cena to guide them through by once again putting the gold on the Cenation leader, but the WWE needs to re-think that plan.
It's not that Cena doesn't deserve the richest prize in the game, he's been a gamer throughout his career and is arguably the WWE's 2015 MVP in terms of match quality and his feud with Kevin Owens this year, but Rollins holding the belt is a breath of fresh air.
The Architect is great in the ring (though being neutered of the Curb Stomp didn't help) and he has a lot of charisma on the microphone when he stays within himself. The WWE should find a way to book Rollins to retain and he should hold the gold until WrestleMania 32, where he faces his former Shield stablemates in a Triple Threat Match.
10) Summer of Sting
There has been a lot of disappointment amongst the WWE Universe after it appeared as though Sting was going to wrestle his second match in WWE only for the company to reportedly change its mind.
The Vigilante was rumored to team with Ambrose and Reigns in their bout against The Wyatt Family, but there have been reports that he WWE deviated from its original plans, for whatever reason.
To make this a memorable event, the WWE should book Sting to appear, whether it be in that ex-Shield vs. Wyatt Family match or to build toward an inevitable clash with The Undertaker by disrupting the main event.
Sting's WWE legacy up to this point is a loss to Triple H at the company's marquee show, and that is just unacceptable.
The Vigilante needs to rise again at SummerSlam.
