Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez is determined to become a major player in European football, even if it means foolishly rejecting a $10 million annual salary, per Marca.

Desperate to increase its star power and relevance in football, Major League Soccer reportedly offered the 27-year-old more money than the combined salaries of 16 clubs. Only Toronto FC ($20.4 million), Los Angeles Galaxy ($18.8 million), New York City FC ($17.3 million) and Orlando City ($10.5 million) have a payroll in excess of $10 million.

OPINION: West Ham United Best Option For Chicharito

To put things in perspective, one Chicharito Hernandez—according to MLS—can buy you one New York Red Bulls ($3.4 million), one DC United ($3.8 million) and still have enough left over to purchase an Obafemi Martins ($2.4 million).

It should be noted that DCU and RBNY are both first and second in the Eastern Conference, respectively. NYCFC sit a putrid eighth and 17 points off the pace.

Chicharito Must Prove His Worth At Manchester United

Determined to stay in Europe, Hernandez must turn his attention to middling Premier League sides. Both West Ham and Tottenham have shown interest, with the former reportedly tabling a £12 million offer, per the Independent.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino remains adamant Hernandez is not a part of his club's plans.

"About Javier Hernandez, those are rumors and nothing more," Pochettino said, per the Independent. "There is nothing concrete. He is a Manchester United player and logically a lot of names are getting suggested for Tottenham, and Javier is just one more."

Regardless of where his future lies ahead in Europe, there is only one certainty: $10 million a year won't await him.
