It wasn't the best week for the game's two biggest stars. Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi found themselves amid controversy for two very distinct transgressions.

On the one hand, there's CR7. Speaking with CNN Español's Andres Oppenheimer, the reigning Ballon d'Or winner admitted he cared little about FIFA's corruption scandal. For him—and most soccer players—there are more pressing issues in the locker room than thousands of innocent lives being sacrificed to host a soccer tournament.

You know, like women and luggage.

"You want to know the truth [about FIFA]? We don't speak about it at all," Ronaldo said in response to Oppenheimer's question. "Not at all. We talk about other things. About music, about women, about fashion, about shoes, about suitcases/bags, about jewelry, about haircuts. Any more [you want me to list?]"

"Personally, I don't talk about it."

What of Lionel Messi? The so-called golden child, the antithesis of Ronaldo's personality, had a serious outburst in Barcelona's friendly against AS Roma.

Possibly imagining Gonzalo Higuain—a man who singlehandedly could've delivered the four-time Ballon d'Or winner a World Cup and Copa America in successive years—Messi headbutted and choked Roma's Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.

Naturally, since it's Messi, only a yellow card was issued and Twitter was more forgiving than usual.

But the question still remains: Which moment was worse?

Is it worse to act as a professional and not concern yourself with political matters off the pitch, or act unprofessionally and physically assault someone on the pitch?

Fortunately, you already have the answer. Your allegiance in the Messi and Ronaldo rivalry has long been determined, so the answer you've established in advance is the correct one.
