Former 49ers running back Frank Gore can't seem to stop unintentionally bashing former teammate Colin Kaepernick.

Gore, who signed as a free agent in the offseason with the Indianapolis Colts after 10 years with the 49ers, talked with great enthusiasm about his new quarterback Andrew Luck. But in doing so, he cast dispersion on Kaepernick, as well as Alex Smith and other former San Francisco quarterbacks during his time there.

"I think if we keep working and keep going and get that jelled, I think by far it can," Gore said, according to NFL.com. "Especially with No. 12, man. I'm not knocking my other quarterbacks, I respect them other guys, but being around this guy a couple months, he's a different breed. He's smart. He makes me feel young. He runs the huddle. I never had that."

It's the second time that Gore has gone out of his way to praise Luck at Kaepernick's expense.

Loss to St. Louis Rams fueled Colin Kaepernick's desire to become a better pocket-passing QB

In March, when Gore did a last-minute switch from signing with the Philadelphia Eagles to the Colts, he talked about Luck being the primary reason.

"When I knew I wasn't going back to the 49ers, my first option was I wanted to be with a great quarterback," Gore said, according to NFL.com. "I feel that you have to have a great quarterback to have a chance. Luck is a young quarterback and he does everything. He can throw. He can run. He's physical. He's a leader.

"I don't know how many years I've got left, two, three. But I want to have the opportunities to get back and chase that trophy I really want before I leave."

In fairness to Gore, he did say then that he looked at those things after he knew a return to the 49ers was unlikely, but the question becomes, would he have renegotiated with the 49ers if Luck were their quarterback?
