Dwyane Wade Undergoes Shock Treatment To Deal With Ailing Knees

Never let it be said Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade isn’t willing to go the extra mile to preserve the championship window of his team.

Wade revealed this week he has spent much of his summer undergoing what’s known as OssaTron shockwave treatments on both his ailing knees. During last season’s title run, the chronic tendinitis he suffers from in his left knee became so severe he had to have it drained and worked on for eight hours before taking the floor against San Antonio in Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

Speaking before a Fantasy Camp session he holds each summer, Wade said he underwent a similar procedure back in 2007 that left him feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.

"I had to take a month off after I did my treatment and this weekend will be a month to the day," he said of this summer’s procedure. "It's the kind of treatment for tendinitis, certain areas in your knee."

The Heat open training camp on Oct. 1 and the regular season four weeks later against Eastern Conference rival Chicago at American Airlines Arena.

Between now and then, Wade hopes to be back near full speed.  "Right now, I have to work on the strengthening part of it,” he said.  “So, I still have time before the season. Time off is obviously key. Right now, I get started back working out."
