The Los Angeles Clippers are awaiting Lamar Odom’s response to a contract offer before moving forward in negotiations with veteran, free agent forward Antwan Jamison, according to ProBasketballTalk.com
Jamison recently met in L.A. with new Clippers coach Doc Rivers and their interest in teaming up appeared mutual, the website reports. But this week, Clippers’ officials put the brakes all proceedings, informing Jamison that re-signing Odom for the roster spot they envision him for remains their preferred option.
In the case of both players, the team is said to be offering the veteran minimum of $1.4 million, but Odom is believed to be holding out for more. Besides the money side of the equation, ProBasketballTalk added Odom is believed to be hoping for more than a one year commitment.
Jamison, who has also been chased by the Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Bobcats, averaged 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds for the Lakers last season. His best statistical season came in 2000 as a member of the Golden State Warriors when he averaged 25 points and 9 boards.
In 20 minutes per game last season, Odom averaged 4 points and 5.9 rebounds for the Clips. The husband of reality TV star Khloe Kardashian, Odom has endured a tough summer, as at least two women have recently emerged to claim they engaged in longtime affairs with the veteran forward.
