The face of the franchise will not be appearing at WWE live events this weekend or on the WWE's flagship show as John Cena has been pulled from Saturday and Sunday's shows as well as Monday Night RAW due to his broken nose.

5 Possible Outcomes To Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker At SummerSlam

Cena defended his United States Championship against Seth Rollins on Monday Night RAW this past week and he sustained a legitimate broken nose after an errant knee from The Architect struck the Cenation leader in the face.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, Cena underwent surgery on his nose either late Monday night or early Tuesday morning and the WWE has pulled him from live events this weekend and he also is no longer advertised for Monday Night RAW this week.

Sting Reportedly Told He Won't Wrestle At SummerSlam

Cena's broken nose reportedly is said to be a very severe injury that required extensive medical work to set, so there's no telling how long he'll be sidelined.

Cena has rejuvenated the United States Championship scene since winning the gold from Rusev at WrestleMania 31 in March.

The 15-time World Champion has had tremendous matches through open challenges on RAW since winning the gold and he engaged in a 2015 Feud of the Year candidate with Kevin Owens, winning two of the three bouts they had.

Cena has set his sights on Rollins, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, in recent weeks and it appeared as though the creative team was building toward a clash between the two at SummerSlam on Aug. 23 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

There's no telling whether the WWE had planned on a title-for-title match, but Cena going over Rollins, despite a broken nose, on Monday seemed to hint that the two would continue their rivalry.

If Cena only has to miss this Monday, it's a good week for him to skip the show as Brock Lesnar is advertised to return to RAW after missing last week's episode and he'll be on-hand to build toward his clash with The Undertaker at SummerSlam.

It remains to be seen how long the road to recovery will be, but Cena is expected to at least miss the next three days of WWE action due to his broken nose.
