Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers says he “feels bad” for Johnny Manziel based on his ongoing issues with the NCAA.

During a far-ranging Sports Illustrated interview, Rodgers added “I mean he’s made some decisions. I just think, he’s a 20-year-old kid, and I wish he could just live like a 20-year-old. Ten years ago, when I was in college, nobody was following anyone around. I could walk around campus and no one knew who I was. No Twitter. Facebook was just starting. I didn’t even know what my Berkeley.edu address was. I couldn’t get a Facebook page. So that’s how things have changed.”

Rodgers said it all to say he feels there’s too much access to players, locker rooms and the like these days and the bottom-line result of it all doesn’t bode well for the game.

“I love our game, but to me there’s too much access,” he told SI. “It’s way over the top. From the camera in the locker room, from the center being miked to all the attention. Everybody’s watching. Everybody’s listening.”

Manziel, meanwhile, remains at the center of an ongoing NCAA probe where it has been alleged he autographed at least 4,400 pieces of merchandise for three brokers in three states for compensation over a several weeks period, a violation of NCAA rules that could result in banishment from the collegiate game.
