Former New Orleans Saints linebacker Junior Galette may have just proved why the team decided to cut him, and eat $18 million of his salary, just to have him out of the locker room. Galette was cut this offseason after video surfaced of him whipping a woman with a belt twice in 2013 during a fight at a beach.

The incident was not Galette's only off-the-field incident, and was just the last straw for him in New Orleans. He was also arrested in January on a separate domestic violence charge, but all the charges were eventually dismissed. The off-field incidents were not the only reason the Saints tired of him though.

According to reports, he changed after signing a four-year, $41.5 million deal and being named a captain. "He stayed focused long enough to get paid, then the real Junior came out. Sad," one teammate said. Another source said, "He thought being captain was more so about status on the team instead of being a leader on and off the field."

Despite those issues, along with his off-field behavior, Galette was so productive on the field it is still surprising he was cut. Galette was named a captain on defense, and has recorded 22 sacks in two seasons as a starter. Nola.com also mentions that he played through a broken toe for much of last season.

Then, his Twitter rant on his girlfriend's account showed why the Saints may have made the correct call. In a lengthy, rambling meltdown Galette battled with fans who took shots at him, and took his own shots at former teammates. His most potent venom was saved for Saints head coach Sean Payton, whom he accused of abusing prescription pills and holding training camp in West Virginia because his "whore" girlfriend lives there.

Per Deadspin, Galette said there are a number of offers for him and he will reveal where he'll play in 2015 tomorrow.
