CM Punk addressed his wife AJ Lee departing the WWE, which came over a year after he walked out on Vince McMahon's company.

The former WWE Champion-turned-UFC fighter sat down with MMAFighting.com to talk about myriad topics and one of them was Lee retiring from professional wrestling.

Punk walked out on the company in January 2014 and was given his termination papers last June while Lee remained with the organization until retiring shortly after WrestleMania 31 this past March.

Punk was asked if he watched the WWE at all anymore, but he said he no longer does now that Lee is gone.

"No," Punk said, "I watched my wife when she was on T.V. She would tell me what segment and I would tune in. I still got friends who work there. They come through, we go out to eat and we grab coffee, but I don't watch. I didn't watch when I was there. I didn't watch my stuff, I just didn't watch."

Punk, who is involved in a libel lawsuit with WWE doctor Chris Amann for comments he made on his friend Colt Cabana's podcast in November that defamed the physician's character, said he wasn't relieved to see Lee retire from wrestling.

"A relief? No, because I never minded watching her," Punk said. "I'm invested in her, so I'm interested in what she does. So was it a relief when she left? No. I really think she was working somewhere, she was doing what she loved and people were making it hard for her to work there, so it was a crappy situation. They made it so it was no longer ideal if that makes sense."

There are a lot of reports that Lee retired in response to Dr. Amann's lawsuit, but Punk said she could go back if she truly desired.

"We're trying to [move on]," Punk said. "It's funny, you do these interviews and people cherry-pick and they'll try to twist my words so they get the answers that they want, but she can go back tomorrow and I wouldn't care. You know what I mean? It's her decision."

Punk also said he's aiming for late 2015 or early 2016 for his first UFC fight. He signed with the MMA promotion in December of last year and has been training out of Roufusport in Milwaukee ever since.

The Best in the World is hopeful to have his debut in Las Vegas later this year and to have his second fight in 2016 from his hometown of Chicago.

He also emphasized that he wants to fight more than just once. The journey toward his debut in the Octagon is also being filmed by a documentary crew.

Lee is a three-time Divas Champion and is currently in control of the longest title reign in history at 295 days, but Nikki Bella (243) is rapidly approaching her.

While Punk would give her his blessing, it's unlikely Lee will return to the WWE.
