Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s uncle Jeff has been very chatty this week, mostly defending his nephew's potential matchup vs. Andre Berto in September. One of the other topics he took on was the second loss of Adrien "The Problem" Broner, Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s protégé.

Broner is one of boxing's most polarizing fighters, mostly because of his brash comments, flashy entrances, and possibly overhyped accomplishments. He won three titles in three weight classes before turning 25, but his victories were mostly at lighter weights vs. nondescript competition. Since 2013 Broner is 5-2, but the two losses came against his best opponents, Marcos Maidana and Shawn Porter. He also mixed in a win over Paulie Malignaggi at 147 pounds that many observers felt Malignaggi won based on his activity.

"Well, I think what it was is that Adrien Broner is a talented fighter but he doesn't have what Floyd has, not even close to what Floyd has. He doesn't even come close, he was just able to ride that coattail until he got exposed," Jeff Mayweather said.

"The reality of it is that he's dug a hole for himself now because it's only good to be a villain when you win, because you force the people to pay because they want to see you get beat so bad. They have already seen Broner get beat twice, they don't care about him getting beat anymore, it doesn't mean anything. Bragging and talking trash like he does now, it's meaningless, it means nothing."

In both losses to Maidana and Porter, Broner displayed serious flaws that were not exposed when he dropped down to B-level fighters. He struggles with pressure fighters; despite tremendous hand speed when Broner is pressured he stops throwing, and holds instead of counter punching. Broner also does not seem to possess the instincts necessary to successfully use the shoulder roll defense. Porter did not do as much damage as Maidana did, but both were able to land clean shots on Broner with regularity.
