Von Miller Arrested For Failure To Appear In Court, Unrelated To NFL Suspension

Denver Broncos star linebacker Von Miller was recently arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for a scheduled court appearance.

Miller, 24, was taken into custody on Sunday and later released on $1,000 bail for not appearing for a hearing related to his arrest last October on charges of careless driving, driving without a license and no proof of insurance.

According to Denver News Channel 7, Miller was slated for arraignment on Dec. 31 and a warrant for failure to appear was issued on Jan. 2. Police took Miller into custody on Sunday as he was inside the Centennial Gun Club.

Earlier this week, the Broncos released a statement reading “we have been aware of the matter involving Von Miller’s failure to appear in court for traffic violations. It was reported to the league earlier this week and is being handled through the legal system.”

Miller is also facing an unrelated four-game suspension for allegedly violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, though assistant executive director of the NFL Players Association George Atallah has admitted the case is not about him testing positive for any performance enhancing drug.

In 2011, Miller tested positive for marijuana and amphetamines, reports have previously indicated, adding that had already resulted in him being a part of the league’s substance intervention program.
