The 2015 UCI BMX World Championships begins today, July 21 and runs until July 25 in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium. Participants of the highly-anticipated 380m track will compete on concrete 8m and cobblestone 5m with the lip of the first jump will be on asphalt.

Interesting to note, the entire event will be held outdoors as compared to the prior three years of the world championships, which were held inside. In April, UCI BMX competitors were able to test ride the Belgium track.

The UCI BMX World Championships will feature the following age groups for boys and girls-five to 16, 17-24 (men); 25-29 and 30 and over. The women's division is 17 and over.

Some notable racers competing for the USA in the over 30 group are Justin Wike, Frank Hoskins and Jonas Harmon.

Other countries that are heavily represented in this grouping are France, Great Britain, The Netherlands and Australia. Host nation Belgium has three riders in the over 30 division; Benoit Dupont, Peter Geys and Gorden Martin.

The championship round of the UCI BMX World Championships is set to take place over the last two days of the event with time trials and races for both men and women. The division includes both juniors and elite.
