Tonight at 7:05 p.m. ET, the Miami Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies come out of the All-Star break and open up a three-game series live from Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

Miami enters play having won two straight games after taking three of four from the All-Star host Cincinnati Reds prior to the break while Philadelphia dropped five straight to close out the beginning of the season, including a three-match sweep at the hands of the San Francisco Giants.

The Marlins begin a nine-game road trip tonight while the Phillies are home for six consecutive contests.

Jose Fernandez (2-0, 2.08 ERA) mans the mound for Miami while Philadelphia counters with rookie Adam Morgan, and he is 1-2 with a 4.23 ERA in three outings thus far.

The Marlins are banged up as they enter this game, with their two best players on the shelf. Slugger Giancarlo Stanton (hand) remain sidelined while Dee Gordon (fractured finger) was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

For the Phillies, Ryan Howard paced the club in the first half with 15 homers and 45 RBI while Ben Revere had a club-best .297 batting average.

Both these teams could be active as the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline rapidly approaches. Phillies ace Cole Hamels and closer Jonathan Papelbon have both been rumored for trades.

In the standings, these two teams occupy the bottom portion of the National League East.

The Marlins are in fourth place, 11 games behind the division-leading Washington Nationals while the Phillies are in dead last, entering the second half with the worst record in the majors and 21 games behing the Nats.
