Manchester City shocked English football after sending $76 million to Liverpool in exchange for Raheem Sterling. That, however, won't be enough to bolster a side looking to make a run in the UEFA Champions League. Additional reinforcements are required.

Below are all the latest transfer rumors surrounding the Citizens.

Kevin De Bruyne

The thought of Kevin de Bruyne playing alongside Sterling and David Silva in midfield is a salivating one in Manchester. Unless, of course, you're Edin Dzeko.

The Bosnian striker provided the Belgian international a puzzling warning on Thursday.

"A lot of players who excelled in other leagues have had problems here," Dzeko said (via Manchester Evening News). "Take Angel Di Maria. I'm certain that he has what it takes to play for one of the top clubs in Europe, but he's also aware that at these clubs there are 20 top players who always want to be on the pitch."

"Maybe it would also help him if he plays in the Champions League with Wolfsburg this season and takes another step in his development there."

According to reports, City are expected to make a £35 million bid before the end of the transfer window.

Jack Wilshere

City target Jack Wilshere is looking to send a warning of his own to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. According to the Mirror, the 23-year-old wants to hold talks to work out how he will fit into Arsenal's plans next season.

"I haven't spoken to the boss about what plans he has for me, but I will do before the start of the season," said Wilshere. "At the moment, I'm just concentrating on getting fit. I had a good end to the season and I just want to keep it going."

James McCarthy

Wilshere is still an option, but James McCarthy isn't.

Despite a potential £20 million offer (per Manchester Evening News), Everton boss Roberto Martinez warned potential suitors that the 24-year-old is not for sale.
