John Cena vs. Kevin Owens has arguably been the best feud of 2015 and the reigning United States Champion hopes it lasts beyond Battleground.

Cena and Owens have been at odds over the last few months ever since the former NXT Champion made his main roster debut and the rivalry has captivated the WWE Universe.

Owens shocked the world when he defeated Cena in his main roster debut match at Elimination Chamber in May, but the Cenation leader got his revenge at Money in the Bank last month.

Heading into the rubber match of their feud, Cena spoke to Comingsoon.net and praised Owens, who he will face at Battleground this Sunday night at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis after he was asked if he wants the feud to go beyond this weekend's event.

"I hope so. Kevin is unbelievably skilled," Cena said. "If there is anyone deserving of a spot on Monday Night Raw... Superstars often talk about their journey to the WWE. His is one of legend, having worked in the independent circuit for a decade and a half, and truly being able, for someone of his stature, being able to do all that he can do, combining strength and unbelievable agility in the ring. Well deserving of being showcased on Monday Night Raw"

Cena said that he realizes people chant for Owens, but he believes that no matter who the WWE Universe roots for, Cena elevates his game due to the ability of his opponent.

"He truly brings out the best in me, and people will always be critical of me," Cena said. "There's a portion of the WWE audience that is just yearning for new, so when they see a new talent that doesn't have any inhibitions, who knows who he is as a character and says what he wants, and then, on top of that, follows it up with unbelievable performances, that's how you captivate the audience and that's how you get something really special started."

When the feud first began, Owens wanted nothing to do with Cena's United States Championship, but following his loss at Money in the Bank and then him dropping the NXT Championship to Finn Balor at Beast in the East on July 4 in Tokyo, Owens has set his sights on Cena's most prized possession.

Cena said that Owens will revolutionize the industry for years to come.

"I think Kevin Owens' name we'll be talking about 10 years from now as one of the major players in the WWE," Cena said. "I've been around for quite a long time, and for me to be able to get in a ring with a guy like that and go like hell and then do it again and hopefully do it again, that's all I'm looking to do. I just want to be able to let the WWE Universe know that I can still go with the best of them-the newest, the best and the brightest, I can still compete."

Cena vs. Owens III emanates live this Sunday at WWE Battleground.
