Today at 3:00 p.m. ET from Harare Sports Club in Harare, Zimbabwe, India will take on Zimbabwe in the first of three upcoming one-day internationals that can be live streamed by clicking this link.
India will not be sending a full-strength side to Zimbabwe so some of their top players, such as Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, can rest. Ajinkya Rahane will assume the captain's role.
"Until the players themselves request for a rest, we don 't rest them," Sandeep Patil, the chairman of the selectors said. "We sent a full-strength side to Bangladesh, but this time the players communicated to us that they needed the rest."
Rahane said that sending a second-tier squad is not an indication they think ill of the side Zimbabwe will put on the pitch.
"We all know that Zimbabwe is a good side," Rahane said. "They've been playing pretty well recently and we're expecting a good series here. The boys are looking forward to the series and we're not taking Zimbabwe lightly. We're respecting them, and respecting their cricket. We've got to play good cricket."
