Aaron Hernandez Fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins, Target Of Search Warrant, Ongoing Probe In Odin Lloyd Killing

Connecticut police investigating the Aaron Hernandez murder case have at least partially turned their search for additional evidence in the direction of his fiancée, according to the Harford Courant.

Authorities recently searched a storage unit rented in the name of Shayanna Jenkins, also the mother of the former New England Patriots tight end’s young daughter. The Courant reports cops believe she made "overt attempts to hide evidence ... and to hinder and mislead" the investigation.

The newspapers adds investigators did not seize anything during their July 26 search of the Bristol, Conn, based unit rented to Jenkins and she has not been formally charged in connection with the June 17 shooting death of former semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.

Hernandez, meanwhile, remains jailed without bail on first-degree murder charges and has been confined to solitary confinement, an act jail officials insist is for his own protection.

According to the newly released documents, investigators cite surveillance video, text messages and an interview with the sister, Shaneah---also Lloyd’s reported girlfriend--- to suggest Shayanna Jenkins may have had knowledge of what happened to the gun used in the shooting.

The Courant reports documents allege Hernandez called Jenkins the day after Lloyd's body was found because he wanted to dispose of weapons in the house. Footage from that June 18 evening reportedly show Jenkins leaving the house carrying a trash bag, which authorities say contains a heavy "rigid object," resembling a lock box or safe.

After putting the bag in the trunk of the car, Jenkins later returned and opened the trunk of the car, which no longer held the trash bag and "rigid object," the records show. Hernandez has a probable-cause hearing scheduled for Aug. 22, unless the grand jury indicts him before that date.

Carlos Ortiz, one of the suspects charged in connection with the case, told police after the shooting that Hernandez stashed two guns in the basement of his home in North Attleborough, Mass. Thus far, a search of the home, other properties and a nearby pond, where it was tipped weapons might have been discarded, have yet to turn up a murder weapon.
