Deontay "The Bronze Bomber" Wilder, the WBC heavyweight champion, was successful in his first title defense vs. Eric Molina on June 13 but he also showed vulnerability. Molina, not a highly-ranked fighter, was able to briefly stun Wilder and put him in danger.

Undefeated Australian heavyweight Lucas Browne must have seen the vulnerability, and is trying to goad the champion into giving him a title shot. "You've got some power, don't get me wrong," Browne said.

"You're a tall and skinny bastard with chicken legs. That's unreal. You've got some power, but your chin is nothing whatsoever." Browne also criticized Wilder's rise to prominence over less-than-stellar opposition. "Well done, congratulations. You've got a well-padded record and your promotional team has done really well."

Browne, 36, is 22-0-0 with 19 knockouts, but his most notable victory is a 2013 unanimous decision win over James Toney. He has never fought in the United States either, but is confident he can eat Wilder's best punches.

"I've got a good chin and I can take your shots all day. Your left hook, your straight right. That's all you've got - over and over again. I'll take it. Then I'll punish the body, then I'll take your head off your shoulders."

Wilder responded briefly to Browne's challenge, simply saying "I would respond if I could understand you..."

Because Browne does not have many names on his resume-even Wilder has beaten former champion Bermane Stiverne-he will probably have to defeat a name opponent before being considered by Wilder. Sky Sports speculated that Browne, who is promoted by former British superstar Ricky Hatton, could set up a bout vs. Tyson Fury that would eventually lead to a clash with Wilder.
