Jackson Vroman, a former second-round pick of the Chicago Bulls in the 2004 NBA Draft, was found dead in his swimming pool at his Los Angeles County home Monday morning, but his friend Dan Bilzerian, an infamous social media star, bemoaned poor reporting online.

Some outlets had initially reported he died from injuries sustained in a car accident, but a recent update from The Des Moines Register reported the cause of death is not immediately known. Bilzerian was posting on social media his version of events.

Vroman played three seasons in the NBA for the New Orleans Hornets and Phoenix Suns, and averaged 3.3 points and three rebounds. Prior to his NBA action, Vroman was a star for the Iowa State Cyclones in college, averaging 13.9 points and 9.6 rebounds a game in his sophomore season.

Vroman was well-connected in celebrity culture, having taken photos with the likes of Justin Beiber and making an appearance at NFL star Reggie Bush’s wedding. Bush tweeted a message of love for Vroman as well.
