UFC fighter Yoel Romero cut a controversial promo in response to gay marriage and former WWE Superstar-turned-MMA fighter CM Punk countered on Twitter.

After his fight on Saturday's UFC Fight Night 70 card, Romero, who admitted he was still learning English and donned a "John: 3:16" headband, cut what appeared to be an anti-gay marriage promo in response to the Supreme Court's recent ruling.

"What happened to you U.S.A.?" Romero said. "What happened to you? Wake up U.S.A. Go for Jesus, not for gay Jesus people."

Punk took to Twitter to respond in a series of tweets to Romero.

Punk is still training for his first fight in the Octagon and after it was initially reported when he first signed with UFC in December that he'd make his debut later this year, it is now likely to be pushed back to 2016.

The Best in the World is training out of Roufusport in Milwaukee as he looks to fulfill his dream of competing for UFC.

Punk left the WWE in January 2014 due to frustration over the way he was being used creatively and also due to being asked to work hurt on several occasions.

Punk's final night with the company proved to be Royal Rumble 2014 and he claimed in an interview with his good friend Colt Cabana that company doctor Chris Amann misdiagnosed him on several occasions, including a concussion he claimed to have suffered during that event.

Dr. Amann swiftly responded with a defamation lawsuit against Punk and Cabana, leading to Punk's real-life wife AJ Lee retiring from the WWE.

It remains to be seen when and where Punk's UFC debut will be and who he'll be taking on, but The Best in the World has been anything but quiet on Twitter.
