Greg Jennings Takes Shot At Packers, Says He Was 'Brainwashed' In Green Bay; Packers-Vikings Rivalry Heating Up

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Greg Jennings has been asked by his new team to quit commenting on the affairs of his former employer, the Green Bay Packers. However, with each comment he makes Jennings seems like the jilted member of a relationship that isn't over the ex.

During a radio interview Jennings claims he was "brainwashed" while donning the green and yellow. "One of the things that drew me to coming over here was the makeup of the team. When I came over here, I was kind of brainwashed. There's no 'kind of' to it. Being over in Green Bay, you're brainwashed to think anyone in the division is tiers below."

Jennings has spent all seven years of his NFL career with Green Bay, but the Packers showed little interest in re-signing him this offseason after he played in just eight games in 2012, and missed three games the previous season. Already before camp starter he had taken shots at Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers' leadership. Now he's aiming at the whole franchise's culture.

It's like everything that you know in Green Bay is like the best, the best, the best, the best, the best," Jennings continued. "And it's like total brainwashing. And I think you don't open your eyes to see what other teams have to offer unless you are in that position, and I was afforded this position."

Jennings' words softened considerably when asked about Packers coach Mike McCarthy, who earned praise from the former pass-catcher.

"You want the truth?" Jennings said. "[Packers coach Mike] McCarthy, he really is mindful of -- and this isn't saying Coach Frazier isn't -- but McCarthy is one of those guys that he really looks at his team and he evaluates, 'OK, what do we need to cut back today, what do we need to implement today because I want a fresh team. I want to get quality work versus quantity.' And that's the biggest difference being a veteran guy and seeing what we are doing."
