The 2K Sports company has just released that details on its next cover athlete for NBA 2K16, as NBA icon Michael Jordan will be added.

According to the NBA 2K Facebook page the upcoming game is a special edition that will available for pre-order four days in advance on Sept. 25, 2015.

Inside the NBA 2K16 bundle are a Jordan NBA 2K16 poster ae well as a Jordan Fathead wall cling. To top it off, in-game features include the following:

  • Digital MJ sneakers
  • Digital t-shirt
  • Michael Jordan jersey for "MyPLAYER"
  • 10,000 in virtual currency
  • MyTEAM VIP (3 emerald packs & special edition moments card)

Interesting to note, this will be the third time that Jordan will be gracing the cover in the NBA 2K franchise's history. He was the first retired to appear on its original one. The Chicago Bulls legend was also alongside fellow Hall-of-Famers Magic Johnson and Larry Bird on NBA 2K12 -- both were limited edition.

In prior years, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett and Chris Paul appeared on the game's case respectively.

NBA 2K16 is slated for release on Sept. 29 and will be available on the XBox One, XBox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC. The upcoming game's other cover athletes will include Golden State's Stephen Curry, Houston's James Harden; and New Orleans' Anthony Davis. The game has been annually rolled out since 1999.

NBA 2K16 was directed by Spike Lee and goes by the slogan, "Be The Story." Some of its perks are: a MyPLAYER NBA journey, a revamped franchise mode, and online gaming. Other 2K Sports franchises include, but are not limited to: WWE 2K, MLB 2K, NFL 2K, and NHL 2K.
