Tonight at 7:10 p.m. ET, the St. Louis Cardinals (45-24) and Miami Marlins (30-41) open up a three-game series live from Marlins Park in Miami.

St. Louis continues and eight-game road trip having won two of its last three contests while Miami opens up a nine-match homestand and has dropped four of its last five games.

The Cardinals took two of three from the Philadelphia Phillies over the weekend while the Marlins dropped two of three to the Cincinnati Reds.

Carlos Martinez (7-3, 2.80 ERA) takes the ball for St. Louis while Miami counters with rookie Jose Urena, and he is 1-3 with a 4.18 ERA thus far this season.

Martinez pitched into the seventh inning for the sixth straight start last time out while Urena is coming off of a loss, but owns a 2.55 ERA in June.

Urena faces a Cardinals lineup that is paced by shortstop Jhonny Peralta, who leads the club with a .311 batting average, 11 homers and 41 RBI. Third baseman Matt Carpenter is tied for third in the National League with 20 doubles while closer Trevor Rosenthal is second in the NL with 21 saves.

Miami's lineup has been carried by outfielder Giancarlo Stanton and second baseman Dee Gordon up to this point. Stanton leads the MLB with 25 homers and 64 RBI while Gordon is first in the majors in batting average (.356, tied) and hits (104) while ranking second with 24 stolen bases.

St. Louis enters play atop the NL Central with the best record in the league and owns a six-game lead over the second-place Pittsburgh Pirates. Miami, meanwhile, is in fourth and 7.5 games behind the division-leading Washington Nationals in the NL East.
