Tonight at 7:10 p.m. ET, the Detroit Tigers (35-34) and Cleveland Indians (32-36) open up a three-game series live from Progressive Field in Cleveland.

Detroit has dropped two of its last three as it continues an eight-game road trip while Cleveland has also lost two of three as it resumes an eight-match homestand.

The Tigers, who won a three-game set against their opponents 2-1 on June 12-14, dropped two of three to the New York Yankees over the weekend while the Indians had the same fate against the Tampa Bay Rays. Both teams salvaged their respective series' with wins on Sunday.

Kyle Ryan (1-1, 3.26 ERA) toes the rubber for Detroit while Cleveland counters with Trevor Bauer, and he is 6-3 with a 3.22 ERA thus far this season.

Ryan is coming off of an outing where he allowed three solo homers to the Cincinnati Reds. Bauer, meanwhile, threw seven scoreless innings against the Chicago Cubs last time out and had seven strikeouts and three walks.

Bauer has been hot as of late, but he goes up against a rough foursome in Miguel Cabrera, Yoenis Cespedes, Victor Martinez and J.D. Martinez.

Cabrera is first in the American League with a .356 batting average while Cespedes is third in the league with 20 doubles and J.D. Martinez is coming in off of an outing where he blasted three homers against the Yankees on Sunday.

The Indians counter with a lineup that is bolstered by second baseman Jason Kipnis and outfielder Michael Brantley.

Kipnis paces the AL with 92 hits and is second in the league in batting average (.345), doubles (21, tied) and on-base percentage (.423). Brantley is knotted with Kipnis with 21 doubles and is hitting .295 with four homers and 35 RBI.

In the AL Central standings, Detroit enters in third place and is 5.5 games behind division-leading Kansas City while Cleveland is in fourth and eight games behind the Royals.
