Riley Cooper Back At Philadelphia Eagles Practice After Controversy Over Racial Slur [VIDEO]

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper is back practicing with the team Tuesday after being excused from team activities Friday for using a racial slur at a concert last June.

"#Eagles WR Riley Cooper has returned from his excused absence and is scheduled to practice with the team today," the Eagles official Twitter account tweeted Tuesday morning.

Sources indicate that Cooper, who is looking to help the Eagles fill the void left by Jeremy Maclin being sidelined with a season-ending knee injury, will most likely play in Philadelphia's preseason opener Friday against the New England Patriots.

Cooper was sent to training on Friday for using a racial slur at a Kenny Chesney concert this past June. The video of the slur went public last week, and the Eagles fined him on Wednesday. For those who haven't seen it, a video of the slur can be found below.

Cooper, 25, told the team earlier this week that he was receiving threats on twitter prior to the video's release, and he wasn't sure who was sending them. The Eagles quickly notified the league's security department of the threats.

Eagles coach Chip Kelly openly stated that Cooper wouldn't lose his roster spot due to the video going public, and Cooper has apologized profusely for his words in the video. Cooper is looking to start for the Eagles after only having 46 catches for 679 yards and five touchdowns for Philadelphia in three seasons.

The Eagles finished a lowly 4-12 last season, good enough for dead last in the NFC East, and Cooper is hopeful to put his mistakes behind him and help the team turn it around this season.
