Two-time Olympic medalist figure skater Michelle Kwan is heading back to the Olympic Games--but this time not as a competitor.

Kwan has been hired by Fox Sports to cover the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi and to help the network promote the launch of its new cable sports channel Fox Sports 1 on Aug. 17.

Kwan won't be the only Olympian covering the games. Olympic skiing champion Picabo Street will also be an analyst and Kwan is hoping the two will get a chance to work together.

While figure skating seems like the obvious choice for Kwan to cover, the figure skater is keeping an open mind and said there's a lot that she'd like to experience.

"There are so many sports to choose from," Kwan said according to the Associated Press, "and I hope I will do some curling and some hockey. Maybe ask skeleton athletes, 'How do you do that?' What they do is pretty scary. . And also, if I have some sort of ideas how I want to report the Olympics, I will have that freedom to do it."

Fox Sports is delighted with the partnership.

"There is no bigger name in the sport of figure skating that Michelle Kwan, and we are delighted to welcome her to Fox Sports," said Fox Sports senior vice president of news Rick Jaffe to the Associated Press. "Not only is she the most decorated figure skater in U.S. history, but she is also opinionated and insightful, and we're very lucky to have her as part of our Olympic team."

Fox has also encouraged Kwan to help them with coverage of sports outside of the Olympics, and she's hopeful to be involved in the Super Bowl just before the winter games.

Kwan was last seen at the Olympics in 2006 at the Turin Games, but she left before the competition started due to injury. At the Vancouver Games in 2010, Kwan was a correspondent for ABC so Kwan definitely has the experience under her belt.

"Reporting and story-telling is what they want, so for me it will be interesting to kind of let the public know about the stories of athletes, or their perspectives on the Olympics," Kwan said.
