Aaron Hernandez Uncle Dies In Crash In Connecticut; Second Relative Of Former Patriots Tight End To Die Since Odin Lloyd Murder

The old saying "when it rains it pours" certainly can apply for ex-Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez these days. According to reports, Hernandez's uncle, Robert Valentine, was killed early Saturday morning in a moped crash.

Valentine, 49, was reportedly driving his moped in Central Street in Bristol Connecticut when he struck a curb and was tossed from the moped into a private driveway, where his head smacked against another curb.

Valentine was a sibling of Hernandez's mother Terri, and Valentine's family said they had some contact with Hernandez, but not much.

"We saw Aaron on occasion," Valentine's brother Patrick said. "We didn't see him all too often though, mainly just on holidays." Patrick described his brother as a family man; "He went out with his girls all the time. He was a great father to them. He was a hard-working person who mostly kept to himself."

Valentine is the second relative of Hernandez to meet his end in an accident. Thaddeus Singleton III, 33 and Hernandez's cousin, was killed after he crashed his car into a building on June 30th. His death was more suspicious; according to reports police wanted to speak with Singleton regarding their investigation of Hernandez. Singleton was driving a car registered to Andres Valderrama, Hernandez's uncle and a person of interest in the same investigation.

As for the disgraced New England pass catcher, Hernandez is still locked up in a Massachusetts jail awaiting trial on first-degree murder charges in the Lloyd slaying. He had a probable cause hearing postponed in July because prosecutors claim they need extra time to piece together their case.

Additionally, authorities suspect Hernandez of being involved in a separate double homicide in 2012, that could have precipitated the murder of Lloyd. Some in law enforcement are of the mind that Lloyd had information about Hernandez's involvement in the double murder, and may have been talking about it to people he didn't like.
