The final stop before the 2015 U.S. Open will take place at the St. Jude Classic in Memphis. Hosted by TPC Southwind and held from June 11-14, the event holds a $6 million purse, with the winner receiving a $1.08 million share.
What They're Saying
Padraig Harrington (via Independent): "I'll be looking for a big performance there. I know the course. It's a big ask at the end of the day to go out there and win a tournament on demand, but we'll have to give it a chance."
The Favorites
Dustin Johnson won this tournament in 2012 and finished tied for 13th at the Memorial Tournament despite shooting a double bogey in each round. The real favorite, however, is the star-studded power of Phil Mickelson. Lefty has been erratic in recent weeks, but is yet to produce back-to-back poor performances this Spring.
After being cut from the Players Championship, Mickelson finished tied for fourth at the Wells Fargo Championship. He'll look to improve on his tied-65th-finish at the Memorial Tournament last Sunday.
Prediction
The goal remains the U.S. Open for Mickelson. His performance this weekend will go a long way in securing it.
