"Stone Cold" Steve Austin may not be stomping mudholes and walking them dry at WrestleMania 32 after all.
John Cena Dealing With Broken Nose?
Austin set the WWE Universe abuzz last week when Paul Heyman appeared on his podcast on the WWE Network and the two hinted at a possible Austin vs. Brock Lesnar bout at WrestleMania 32, but he has since backtracked on that possibility.
There have been rumors that The Texas Rattlesnake may return to action at the biggest show of the year on April 3, 2016, in his home state at AT&T Stadium and Austin seemed to justify those rumors during his banter with Heyman.
Austin went into full-on promo mode when Heyman brought up a possible clash with The Beast at WrestleMania, but he took to his podcast this week to dispel all of the speculation.
The WWE Hall of Famer took to his podcast again this week and said that he wasn't aware what Heyman was going to say and he also went into promo mode because he felt it was right for the Austin character.
Austin added that he didn't mean to raise expectations of fans for a possible return match and that he wasn't trying to intentionally build toward a match with Lesnar.
Austin also said that Lesnar will be doing different things going forward and that he wanted to clear the air while insisting he was not hyping a match with The Beast.
The former WWE Superstar hasn't wrestled since he lost to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson at WrestleMania XIX in 2003. He has made sporadic appearances in Vince McMahon's company, but he hasn't wrestled in 12 years.
Lesnar, meanwhile, just completed one of the greatest years any Superstar has ever had as he ended The Streak of The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX and then decimated John Cena to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam last summer.
Lesnar, a part-time Superstar, held onto the gold for 224 days before he lost it at WrestleMania 31 in March without being pinned when Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and pinned Roman Reigns to win the title.
The Beast is set to return to WWE television soon to build toward his summer arc and he is once again on a part-time deal that will see him miss significant time.
Lesnar vs. Austin was a dream match, but it appears as though that fantasy bout won't become a reality.
