Tonight at 7:10 p.m. ET, the San Diego Padres (29-29) and Atlanta Braves (27-29) open up a four-game set live from Turner Field in Atlanta.

San Diego continues a seven-game road trip and has won four of its last five contests while Atlanta resumes a seven-match homestand and has dropped four of five.

The Padres took two of three from the Reds in Cincinnati over the weekend while the Braves dropped two of three to the Pittsburgh Pirates to kickoff their home swing.

Ian Kennedy (3-5, 6.60 ERA) takes the mound for San Diego while Atlanta counters with Shelby Miller and he is 5-2 with a 1.89 ERA thus far on the campaign.

Miller is third in the National League in ERA and his .187 average allowed is second in the Senior Circuit while he also has two complete-games and two shutouts.

Kennedy is coming off of a solid outing against the Mets where he struck out eight batters in his first appearance since May 6.

Miller has had a great campaign, but he enters on the heels of his shortest outing of the season, which saw him last 4.1 innings while allowing a season-high four runs and adding six walks against the Diamondbacks in Arizona.

These teams play each other for the first time since making major swaps this offseason that saw Justin Upton, Melvin Upton and Craig Kimbrel come to the Padres and Cameron Maybin get shipped to the Braves.

Justin Upton leads San Diego with 12 homers and 37 RBI and is first among the Padres' qualifiers with a .297 batting average.

Atlanta counters with a lineup that is paced by first baseman Freddie Freeman, who is first on the Braves in batting average (.300), homers (10) and RBI (34).

Each club enters play in third place in their respective divisions as San Diego trails the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers by 3.5 games while Atlanta is behind the division-leading New York Mets by three games in the NL East.

The Padres and Braves kickoff a four-game series live tonight from Turner Field in Atlanta.
