CM Punk has left the squared circle behind him as he prepares for the Octagon and though he said in the past he will never return to the WWE, Jeff Jarrett recently discussed him possibly competing for Global Force Wrestling.
WWE Monday Night RAW Rumors and Preview
Punk walked out on the WWE in January 2014 and then signed with UFC that December and he is preparing for his first MMA fight, which is expected to occur later this year.
Jarrett appeared on The Roman Show to promote GFW and he was asked about whether he thought Punk would ever possibly return to wrestling, potentially for his promotion. Jarrett touched on the topic, but didn't want to speculate.
6 Potential Matches For WWE WrestleMania 32
"CM Punk is headed in his career," Jarrett said on the show. "I don't like to comment on hypotheticals, what ifs. I have a lot respect for CM Punk win or lose, he already won because he is following his passion off MMA."
Punk last appeared in the ring at Royal Rumble 2014 and he stormed out of a RAW taping the very next night.
He was mostly silent following his exodus, but he broke that barrier last November when he appeared on Colt Cabana's Art of Wrestling podcast and opened up about his departure for the first time.
Punk slammed the WWE and said he would never return while he also stated that he was angry over being "creatively stifled" and he accused WWE doctor Chris Amann of misdiagnosing him on several occasions -- including a concussion he claimed he had suffered at the Royal Rumble, which proved to be the last straw.
The Best in the World announced in December that he joined UFC and he has been training with Roufusport in Milwaukee to prepare for his first fight.
Punk has vowed not to return to wrestling, so it's unlikely he'll end up in GFW.
Punk is married to AJ Lee in real life and he revealed on the podcast that he received his official termination papers from the WWE last June on the day of their wedding.
Lee stayed with the company through all the controversy, but she recently retired from wrestling following WrestleMania 31, likely due to the fact that Amann sued Punk for defamation over his comments.
Vince McMahon appeared on "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's podcast on the WWE Network last December and apologized to Punk for receiving the papers on his wedding day, claiming the WWE had no idea and the timing was a coincidence.
Punk is set to debut in the Octagon sometime this year, but people are still speculating over a possible return to the squared circle someday whether it is with WWE, GFW or some other organization.
