Craig Ehlo Arrested On Domestic Abuse Charges [VIDEO]: Former Cleveland Cavalier In Michael Jordan's 'The Shot' Highlight Charged With Reckless Burning
Former NBA player Craig Ehlo, best known for being the overmatched Cleveland Cavaliers defender over whom Michael Jordan drained “The Shot” over during the 1989 playoffs has been arrested on domestic abuse charges, according to the Spokane-Review.
Police in upstate Washington took Ehlo, 51, into custody earlier this week on first-degree reckless burning, domestic violence charges. Other than noting he was taken into custody shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday, the newspaper said police declined to provide additional details.
Until recently, Ehlo, who played 14 NBA seasons, had been the coach at Eastern Washington University. He resigned in July, but continued living in the area, where he has also previously worked as a color analyst for Seattle Supersonic and Gonzaga University games.
Ehlo played at Washington State University from 1981-1983 before he was drafted into the NBA by the Houston Rockets. He averaged 8.6 points over his career, playing for the Rockets, Cavs, Atlanta Hawks and Supersonics.
Ehlo also shot 37 percent on threes during his career and grew to be regarded as a top-flight defender.
Over the years, many of have counted the Jordan basket over him as the one that launched the Chicago Bulls star into the stratosphere and the world of being known as “Air Jordan.” Led by Jordan, the Bulls went on to win six NBA titles during an eight year period, propelling him to the point where he remains largely regarded as the best player to ever play the game.
