New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is not only one of the highest paid players in the NFL, he is one of the world's highest paid athletes. So the internet noticed when a photo of a receipt showing a $3.00 tip on a $74.00 food bill made the rounds.

Brees was roundly criticized for appearing like a Scrooge, until he defended himself via Twitter. His tweet read: "In case anyone still cares about this report: I tipped $3 on a takeout order. Had we sat down it would have been 20%+."
Now that this matter is behind him, Brees can resume being one of the most famous players in the league, as well as the face of the Saints.
Brees had a fine statistical season last year, despite missing his head coach for the entire season because of the Bountygate scandal that rocked the NFL. Brees threw for 5,177 yards, 43 touchdowns and 19 interceptions, while the team missed the postseason with a 7-9 record.
The previous season, with Payton, Brees amassed 5,476 yards, hit on 46 touchdowns and threw six fewer interceptions. He also completed 71.2 percent of his passes in 2011; without Payton in 2012 that figure dipped to 63 percent.
Brees admitted being annoyed by the controversy his receipt sparked. He was not miffed at the restaurant, he said, but "that it actually got spun and perceived as -- you immediately jump to the conclusion that he stiffed a waiter or waitress. That's the part that bothers me."
