On Wednesday, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper snagged headlines for all the wrong reasons, being caught on video using the N-word slur while attending a country music concert.
Cooper owned up to his comments, tweeting out three apologetic messages that read:
"I am so ashamed and disgusted with myself. I want to apologize. I have been offensive. I have apologized to my coach, Jeffrey Lurie, and"
"Howie roseman and to my teammates. I owe an apology to the fans and to this community. I am so ashamed, but there are no excuses. What I did"
"Was wrong and I will accept the consequences."
That isn't enough, however, for the brother of Cooper's teammate Michael Vick, who happens to be the frontrunner to throw passes to Cooper all season.
Marcus Vick, certainly no stranger to controversy, took to Twitter to offer money in exchange for "waking up" Cooper. Marcus Vick's tweets read as follows:
"Hey I'm putting a bounty on Riley's head. 1K to the first Free Safety or Strong safety that lights his a-up. Wake him up please!" He followed that one with a second tweet reading: "Hahahaha! Peace of s-t. Who wants to play on a team with guys like that?"
Michael Vick said he disagreed with his brother's incendiary messages, and he may be getting tired of having to answer for his sibling's mouth. Last season Marcus drew Michael's ire for tweeting about the Eagles' misuse of him and poor offensive line play.
Mere weeks ago, upon learning of George Zimmerman's acquittal in the trial for Trayvon Martin's death, a livid Marcus Vick tweeted out profanity-laden threats toward Zimmerman on Twitter, tweeting that he would "pop him right between the eyes," and referring to him as a "cricket b---h."
This is the second time this offseason Michael Vick's brother has detracted from his focus upon becoming the Eagles' starting quarterback. Michael is battling second-year passer Nick Foles and rookie Matt Barkley for the job.
