Even as he tries to do the right things this offseason, Johnny Manziel remains more popular for being Johnny Manziel than being an NFL quarterback.

In the wake of the incident with an 18-year-old autograph seeker at the Byron Nelson Golf Classic PGA tournament in which Manziel ended up throwing a water bottle in his direction, Cleveland Browns teammate Joe Haden revealed another incident of harassment against the former Heisman Trophy winner.

Cleveland Browns intend to minimize role of Johnny Manziel?

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that Haden, the Browns cornerback, talked of the plight of Manziel in public.

"I'm walking around with Johnny and we're leaving a little restaurant, we're walking back to valet going to the car, and then, you just hear, 'How was rehab?' '' Haden said after organized team activities Tuesday. "I'm like, 'Dude, you're just getting at him when we're chilling, leaving the restaurant,' so it's just negativity that people are trying to get a reaction out of him, and it's upsetting.''

Texas A&M use of Johnny Manziel in social media recruiting graphic backfires

Haden's comments come just days after a fan bothered Manziel for two hours for an autograph at the Four Seasons hotel pool, which was near the Byron Nelson golf course. When that fan began to heckle Manziel, he lost his cool and tossed the water bottle, and Irving, Texas police spokesman said, according to the Plain Dealer.

The Plain Dealer reviewed two other incidents involving Manziel and fans. In November, a fan, whom Manziel described as "very intoxicated," accosted Manziel at his apartment. The fan, Chris Gonos, later apologized for the incident.

In January, other Manziel hecklers threw drinks at the quarterback at a nightclub in Houston.

Charles Barkley suggested that Manziel's friends should've "beat down" the Byron Nelson heckler. NFL.com defended Manziel, saying he should be commended, not vilified for completing rehab.

But right or wrong, Manziel seems to be paying for last offseason in which he was the subject of multiple social media party scenes and then had a horrendous first season with the Browns.
