The first wave of penalties resulting from the Kevin Ward Jr.-Tony Stewart rule have been levied.

USA TODAY Sports is reporting that a pair of NSACAR lower-tier circuit drivers have been fined and placed on probation for leaving their cars and walking across a "hot track."

The incidents took place last weekend at Dover International Speedway - incidentally, the site of Stewart's last NASCAR Sprint Cup victory in 2013.

Trevor Bayne, a driver in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, got out of his car and walked off the track during Sunday's FedEx 400 Benefiting Autism Speaks race. He later resumed racing but finished last among the 43 drivers in the race, USA TODAY Sports reported.

A.J. Foyt says leg injury and Kevin Ward's death turn Tony Stewart's 2015 season to "crap"

Camping World Truck Series driver Jennifer Jo Cobb got out of her vehicle and walked up the racetrack toward the car of Tyler Reddick "after she believed he spun her out of the race" on Friday, according to USA TODAY.

Bayne was fined $20,000 and placed on probation for the rest of 2015. Cobb also was put on probation for the rest of the year and fined $5,000.

The penalties were the first that resulted in the rule NASCAR implemented in August, 2014, as a result of Ward's death in a sprint car race in upstate New York.

Ward and Stewart nearly collided, sending Ward's car in a wall and ending his race. Ward got out of his car and walked angrily toward Stewart's approaching car, when Stewart's right rear tire caught Ward and sent him airborne some 50 feet before he fell back to the ground.

Ward died as a result of the injuries he sustained when his body hit the track. The tragedy forced Stewart to take a three-week hiatus from the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series to deal with the Ward tragedy.

Stewart has just two top-10 finishes in his last 23 races since the tragedy with Ward.
