Russell Wilson wants to continue to be a Seattle Seahawk. But not at all costs.

The Seattle Times posted a transcript of an interview that the Seahawks starting quarterback conducted with the media.

Cam Newton's contract sets the market price for Russell Wilson?

In it, Wilson continually talks about the fact that he wants to stay in Seattle and hopes it works out but won't talk about specifics of his contract extension negotiations with the team.

"I just think that ultimately ... you know, I'm one of those guys that just believes in just trying to do your best, you know?" Wilson told reporters, according to the Times. "And if it's meant to be, it's meant to be. So hopefully it's meant to be, and we'll just keep moving forward. I'm just grateful. I'm truly grateful just to be around the guys I'm around and the people I get to be around, and I love the city, you know. So it's been a special time for me, you know, so I'm just taking it one day at a time."

He told reporters he was going to give the same boring answers to their questions about the prospect of entering the 2015 season without a new deal - that he just wants to prepare to play and let his agent work out a deal with the club.

He refused to talk specifics about money when reporters asked about the $20 million threshold for quarterbacks, in the wake of Cam Newton's new contract with the Carolina Panthers earlier this week.

"It's a private matter. I'm not going to talk money, that's one of those things, I'm not going to talk about anything like that. It's between me and my lawyer, Mark Rodgers, and the Seahawks. Whenever it works out, I think everybody will know, find out, if that's the case. It's just one of those things. I'm honestly just trying to keep that close to my chest and just continue to work on playing football."

Nor did Wilson want to discuss whether he had any concern about the impact of a lucrative deal on the team's salary cap.

NFL.com suggested that Wilson understands he will re-sign with the Seahawks, so making any waves would be unproductive.

"In the end, Wilson isn't going anywhere. The quarterback knows as much, so complaining or sitting out OTAs would serve no purpose."

It has already been reported that Wilson will not accept a Colin Kaepernick-type deal that gives the team considerable leeway. His latest comments seem to indicate that he has a dollar figure in mind that he won't accept less than.
