What's good for the goose is good for the gander. In this case, what's good for Caroline Wozniacki is good for Rory McIlroy.

The world's No. 1 golfer went public with the worst-kept secret since his post-Wozniacki love life, telling the Irish Times that he has been dating Erica Stoll for the past six months.

Relationship with J.J. Watt affecting Caroline Wozniacki's tennis?

"I am very happy in my love life," McIlroy told The Times, as reported by Eurosport.co.uk. "We haven't really been putting it out there. She is from America, which is why I like to spend time in Palm Beach (in Florida). "The past six or seven months have been really nice. That part of my life is going great."

The two met in 2012 at the Ryder Cup when McIlroy was dating Wozniacki. Stoll is credited with going to McIlroy's room to wake him and keep him from missing a match in the event.

Wozniacki recently has been spending time publicly with Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt. He accompanied her to Paris where she played in the French Open before losing in the second round.

McIlroy has made his announcement in the midst of missing two straight cuts on the European Tour, the latest coming at the Irish Open.

The professional careers of both McIlroy and Wozniacki skyrocketed following their breakup last year. It was at a news conference before the BMW Championship that McIlroy announced the two had ended their engagement, five days after the wedding invitations went out.

McIlroy went on to win the BMW Championship, then won the British Open and the PGA Championship to recapture the No. 1 ranking. Wozniacki won the Istanbul Open, then advanced to the finals of the U.S. Open to climb from No. 16 to No. 5.

But both have had mixed results since their new romances have begun. Wozniacki is a good-but-not-great 23-10 in 2015 with a win at the Malaysian Open.

McIlroy has two wins - at the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Match Play and the Wells Fargo Championship earlier this month. But he also has missed the cut in events three times.

It appears both still are trying to figure out how to excel at their sports while in a relationship.
